Four New Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Examining Health-Seeking Behavior in Persons With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (REDD-CAT): Instrument Development Study

Four New Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Examining Health-Seeking Behavior in Persons With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (REDD-CAT): Instrument Development Study

Health-seeking behaviors are further contextualized by culture, language, and socioeconomic factors, all of which underscore individual decision-making and behavior change processes in response to illness [5,6]. Comprised of both information-gathering and use of services, health-seeking behaviors have been studied in the context of coping among patients with cancer and other serious illnesses [7], and to a lesser extent, as a marker of patient activation [8,9].

Impact of Telemedicine Modality on Quality Metrics in Diverse Settings: Implementation Science–Informed Retrospective Cohort Study

However, findings are inconsistent [8,9] and often exclude or cannot differentiate video from audio-only telemedicine, which is more frequently used in diverse, low socioeconomic status (SES) settings where digital literacy and access issues are known [10-13].

Tracking Population-Level Anxiety Using Search Engine Data: Ecological Study

Tracking Population-Level Anxiety Using Search Engine Data: Ecological Study

Prior investigators have hypothesized that differences in the prevalence of anxiety disorders between countries and time periods increase the weighting of environmental influences in their etiology, whereas when prevalence rates are stable, despite different socioeconomic and cultural environments, the weighting of genetic and neurobiological influence increases [36].

Telehealth Uptake Among Hispanic People During COVID-19: Retrospective Observational Study

Telehealth Uptake Among Hispanic People During COVID-19: Retrospective Observational Study

Whether a patient has access to and knowledge to use telehealth depends on socioeconomic factors [5]. Ramirez et al [5] observed that the Hispanic community had lower telehealth use due to cultural perceptions, inadequate financial resources, and digital literacy barriers. Health inequities are concerning, as research suggests that health outcomes are favorable across racial and ethnic groups when services are used [17,18].

Analysis of Demographic and Socioeconomic Factors Influencing Adherence to a Web-Based Intervention Among Patients After Acute Coronary Syndrome: Prospective Observational Cohort Study

Analysis of Demographic and Socioeconomic Factors Influencing Adherence to a Web-Based Intervention Among Patients After Acute Coronary Syndrome: Prospective Observational Cohort Study

We specifically examined demographics and socioeconomic factors influencing adherence to this telemedicine intervention. Identifying potential barriers to digital health care services informs hypotheses to improve accessibility to and use of this emerging branch of health care. This study was conducted at the Department of Provincial Cardiology of Ferrara, Italy, and was approved by the local Ethics Committee of Area Vasta Emilia Centro (69/2022/Oss/AOUFe; January 20, 2022).

Using Social Vulnerability Indices to Predict Priority Areas for Prevention of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death in Cook County, IL: Cross-Sectional Study

Using Social Vulnerability Indices to Predict Priority Areas for Prevention of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death in Cook County, IL: Cross-Sectional Study

We sourced all predictive covariates from US Census’ “American Community Survey” (ACS) and from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry’s associated “Social Vulnerability Index” (SVI), which has 4 thematic domains: Socioeconomic (eg, estimate of people living below the poverty line), Household Composition and Disability (eg, estimate of single-parent households with children under 18), Minority Status and Language (eg, estimate of all non-White, non-Hispanic people), and Housing Type and Transportation

Individual Factors Influencing the Public’s Perceptions About the Importance of COVID-19 Immunity Certificates in the United Kingdom: Cross-sectional Web-based Questionnaire Survey

Individual Factors Influencing the Public’s Perceptions About the Importance of COVID-19 Immunity Certificates in the United Kingdom: Cross-sectional Web-based Questionnaire Survey

However, we did observe a significant effect of employment status and loss of income, suggesting the importance of socioeconomic factors compared to demographics in this context. One of the limitations of our study is that participants were recruited from the web-based survey platform Prolific. Since Prolific surveys are completed digitally (mobile, PC, tablet, etc), our sample was comprised of people who had the means and capacity to use digital technologies.

Socioeconomic Disparities in Social Distancing During the COVID-19 Pandemic in the United States: Observational Study

Socioeconomic Disparities in Social Distancing During the COVID-19 Pandemic in the United States: Observational Study

These studies have also largely focused on understanding how social distancing was influenced by local or regional decisions and whether socioeconomic factors changed the responses to state and local interventions. Here, we focus on an ecological understanding of how mobility varies with socioeconomic characteristics rather than assessing what drives these changes. As outlined above, multiple studies have aimed to understand the causes of mobility behavior changes.
