During the development of semaglutide (la semaine in translation from French, “week”), researchers sought to increase its duration of action. The half-life of oral semaglutide is approximately 1 week [21]. Ozempic (in strengths of 2 mg/1.5 m L, 2 mg/3 m L, 4 mg/3 m L, and 8 mg/3 m L), Rybelsus (3, 7, and 14 mg), and Wegovy (0.25 mg/0.5 m L, 0.5 mg/0.5 m L, 1 mg/0.5 m L, 1.7 mg/0.75 m L, and 2.4 mg/0.75 m L) have different dosages depending on the treatment purposes and patient characteristics.
