Effects of Acute Time-Restricted Eating on Inflammation in Individuals With Psoriasis: Protocol for a Case-Control, Prospective Study

Effects of Acute Time-Restricted Eating on Inflammation in Individuals With Psoriasis: Protocol for a Case-Control, Prospective Study

Measurements were performed in the morning after a 12-hour fast using indirect calorimetry with the ventilated hood technique with a metabolic cart (Parvomedics, Murray, UT) [13]. After a 12-hour (day 0) and 16-hour (day 4) overnight fast, 1 intravenous catheter was placed in each arm for blood draws upon arrival in the morning. A liquid meal (Boost Plus) was provided to meet 33% of the estimated daily calorie requirements.

Optimizing and Testing an Individualized and Adaptive Physical Activity Digital Health Intervention: Protocol for a Control Optimization Trial Embedded Within a Randomized Controlled Trial

Optimizing and Testing an Individualized and Adaptive Physical Activity Digital Health Intervention: Protocol for a Control Optimization Trial Embedded Within a Randomized Controlled Trial

This COT approach mimics how a health coach may hypothesize about a person’s response to different BCTs. The discrepancy between a controller’s prediction and a person’s actual response is incorporated into future decisions of the controller. For example, if a person starts to be less responsive to suggested goals, the controller may increase the reward that a person will receive for meeting a goal to increase a person’s incentive to meet suggested goals.

Enrollment and Retention Outcomes from the Veterans Health Administration for a Remote Digital Health Study: Multisite Observational Study

Enrollment and Retention Outcomes from the Veterans Health Administration for a Remote Digital Health Study: Multisite Observational Study

VA provides health care at 170 VA Medical Centers and 1380 outpatient sites of care [10] that share a common underlying electronic health record with information rolled up into a national data warehouse. The data warehouse enables linkage of study data collected by RPM or mobile app data with a vast amount of VA clinical, health care usage, and cost data.

Improving Data Integrity in Samples Obtained From Web-Based Recruitment: Protocol for the Development of a Novel System for Assessing Participant Authenticity in a Remote Longitudinal Cohort Study of Polysubstance Use

Improving Data Integrity in Samples Obtained From Web-Based Recruitment: Protocol for the Development of a Novel System for Assessing Participant Authenticity in a Remote Longitudinal Cohort Study of Polysubstance Use

In this paper, we outline a novel system for authenticating participants recruited remotely via a third-party recruitment company for a longitudinal cohort study examining trajectories of opioid-involved PSU and other health outcomes.

Examining Potential Implicit Bias in Oncologist-Patient Communication (CONNECT): Protocol for an Observational 2-Site Study

Examining Potential Implicit Bias in Oncologist-Patient Communication (CONNECT): Protocol for an Observational 2-Site Study

Compared with White patients, minoritized patients (Black and Hispanic patients) have a higher incidence of advanced solid cancer and have a higher mortality rate [1,2]. Although many factors contribute to such disparities, physician implicit bias may be a contributing factor [3]. Moreover, disparities have been reported in the outcomes of minoritized patients with advanced solid cancer [4,5]. Rather than improving over time, these inequities have been widening [6].

Assessment of Two Online Interventions for Veterans With Chronic Pain: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Efficacy Trial

Assessment of Two Online Interventions for Veterans With Chronic Pain: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Efficacy Trial

This study aims to conduct a 3-site, randomized controlled, parallel group efficacy trial of VACT-CP (n=120) versus an active online control condition (Online Pain School; n=80) with a 1:2 allocation ratio (Online Pain School vs VACT-CP arms) to allow mediation analysis of hypothesis 3 in the VACT-CP group only. Online Pain School is adapted from a common in-person treatment option for veterans, modified for an online format, and delivered through a VA-approved, secure website.

Frequency and Predictors of Virtual Visits in Patients With Heart Failure Within a Large Health System: Retrospective Cohort Study

This was a retrospective cohort study conducted at the UCHealth health system, which is a large regional health system in Colorado and areas of Wyoming and Nebraska. UCHealth is comprised of 14 hospitals, 900 clinics, and over 6000 physicians who serve academic, rural, suburban, and community settings. Staff Enablement of the Tovertafel for Enrichment in Residential Aged Care: Field Study

Staff Enablement of the Tovertafel for Enrichment in Residential Aged Care: Field Study

The staff participants signed a participant information sheet and consent form (PICF) and received an Aus $20 (US $13.37) gift voucher as a token of appreciation. The care home residents who participated in the interviews were provided with a PICF that included pictures of Tovertafel games, along with a textual description of the technology. Some of these residents were shown a You Tube video of the Tovertafel if they were unable to understand its functionality from the PICF alone.
