As shown in Figure 2, one study had more than one intervention group with the same outcome measured [28]; therefore, 7 interventions are shown in the forest plot of systolic blood pressure, and the estimated WMD of systolic blood pressure between intervention and control groups was not statistically significant at −1.39 mm Hg (95% CI −4.46 to 1.68; P=.37; I2=61%). No significant publication bias was detected visually by the funnel plot (Figure 3) or statistically by Begg (P=.30) and Egger (P=.10) tests.

The Egger’s test confirmed that the funnel plot was not symmetrical (P=.01).
Effect on physical activity (14 studies).
Effect on cardiovascular composite scores (9 studies).
General effect on primary outcomes (37 studies).
Six studies (n=1904; 1 short-term and 5 long-term studies) reported on cardiovascular event rates. The mean length of the studies was 13 months (range 6-24 months). The pooled analysis showed no difference in rate between groups (pooled OR 0.75, 95% CI 0.39-1.42; I2=27%; Figure 10).
