Unfortunately, it was estimated that 1% of the general population and 1.4% of people aged ≥65 years were living with undiagnosed AF, as reported in a systematic review that combined data from 30 cross-sectional studies (n=122,571) [8]. Hence, the opportunity for anticoagulation therapy to reduce stroke risk for these patients is missed. Several guidelines have recommended opportunistic screening for AF [9-12].
