Similarly, ML models were applied to the problem of disease progression for hepatitis C virus [8] for the 5-year prediction problem using longitudinal data. The authors' conclusion was that the boosted survival tree-based models using longitudinal data perform better than cross-sectional or linear models. Last but not least, ML was also used for disease progression and secondary progression detection for multiple sclerosis [6].
